about stina

I was born in Stockholm, Sweden and started singing in a girl’s choir at the age of seven. Throughout my childhood and into my early twenties, I sang in advanced youth choruses.

A scholarship in 1991 brought me to the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, to study voice with Lois Mc Donall (from The English National Opera). I completed an Artist Diploma at the University of Toronto (1995). I was one of few undergraduate students admitted for two years of studies at the University of Toronto Opera School 1993-1995.

After two years of private vocal studies with John Simmons (The Juilliard School of Music) in New York City, I returned to Europe in 1998, got married, and had two children. Aside from being a singer, I also work as a freelance childrens's book writer/ illustrator.
